Leave No One Behind

Building Liberia's Future Through Inclusion and Empowerment

Every person with a disability in Liberia who lacks a wheelchair or a school ramp is being denied their right to move, learn, and earn. BDI is changing that. One door at a time.

Aminata's Story

Aminata is 22 years old. She lives in Paynesville, Montserrado County. She was born with a mobility disability. For years, that disability did not define her, but the world around her did. Her school had no ramp. Her community had no wheelchair for her. And so Aminata stayed home, not because she lacked the will, but because the doors were literally closed.

She was invisible. Not because she was not there, but because no one had made space for her.

Then BDI came.

A wheelchair. A school modification. A vocational training slot in tailoring. Three things that cost a fraction of what they returned. Today, Aminata runs a small sewing business from her community. She has two steady clients. She is saving to expand. She goes where she wants to go.

"They did not give me a future. They gave me the door. I walked through it myself."

Why This Program Matters

There are 300 more Aminatas on BDI's target list for 2026 alone, people with disabilities across Montserrado, Bong, and Sinoe counties who are waiting for a wheelchair, a ramp, a training slot, or simply someone to acknowledge that they exist and have the right to participate fully in their community.
